Introduction

Welcome to StepHarvest. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you visit our website.

Information We Collect

Email Addresses

When you sign up for our waitlist, we collect your email address. We use Resend as our email service provider to store and manage your email subscription. Your email is used solely to:

• Send you updates about StepHarvest development
• Notify you when the app launches
• Share occasional news about the game

Analytics Data

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our website. This service collects:

• Pages you visit and time spent on each page
• Your general geographic location (country/city level)
• Device type and browser information
• How you arrived at our website (referral source)

Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising & Conversion Tracking

We use the Reddit Pixel, a tracking tool provided by Reddit, Inc., to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns on Reddit. The Reddit Pixel collects:

• Page visits on our website
• Conversion events (such as email sign-ups)
• Browser and device information
• IP address (used for general location and fraud prevention)

This data helps us understand how users interact with our site after seeing our Reddit ads. Reddit may use this information in accordance with its own Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Reddit's interest-based advertising in your Reddit account settings.

Mobile App Data (StepHarvest game)

Account information. To save your progress, the app creates an account for you. You can play with an anonymous account (no personal details required) or link an email address and password so you can recover your account later. We use Supabase for authentication and to store your account.

Game data. Your game state (farm, crops, character, inventory, gold, achievements, and progress) is stored in Supabase, our game backend.

Health and step data. The app reads your step count from Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS and Health Connect on Android, and may also read steps from your device's motion sensor. Step counts are used for a single purpose: to credit in-game currency and progress. Our access to and use of Apple Health and Health Connect data complies with Apple's HealthKit and Google's Health Connect policies. We do not use your health or step data for advertising or marketing, we never sell it, and we do not share it with any third party other than our own game backend to run the game. You can revoke step access at any time in your device's Health settings.

Notifications. If you enable notifications, we store a device push token so we can send you in-game alerts (for example, when your pet returns from an expedition).

Patreon Account Linking (Optional)

On the /my-farm page, you can optionally link your Patreon account to your StepHarvest farm so that your patron benefits (closed beta access, in-game patron flair, named credits) can be granted automatically when the closed beta opens. The link is initiated by you through Patreon's standard OAuth flow, and requires you to set a password on your farm first.

When you complete the link, we store the following information returned by Patreon:

• Your Patreon user ID (a pseudonymous identifier issued by Patreon)
• The email address on your Patreon account
• Your current membership status, tier title, and monthly pledge amount, if any
• OAuth access and refresh tokens that let us periodically re-check your membership status
• The first date on which we observed an active patron membership, so we can keep your beta access entitlement even if you later cancel

We do not collect or store your Patreon real name. We use this data only to identify you as a patron and grant the corresponding StepHarvest benefits. You can unlink your Patreon at any time from the /my-farm page, which clears all of the data above from your farm record. Patreon's own privacy policy governs any data Patreon holds about your account: see patreon.com/policy/privacy.

Crash and Diagnostic Data

We use Sentry to collect crash reports and diagnostic information when the app encounters an error. This may include device model, operating system version, app version, and technical details about the crash, and may be linked to a device or account identifier. We use this only to find and fix bugs and improve stability. We do not use it for advertising.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device. We use:

• Analytics cookies: Google Analytics cookies to understand website usage
• Advertising cookies: Reddit Pixel cookies to measure ad campaign effectiveness and track conversions
• Preference cookies: To remember your cookie consent choice

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect your experience on our website.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Resend: Our email service provider, to manage email communications
• Google Analytics: To process website analytics data
• Reddit: To measure advertising effectiveness and track conversion events via the Reddit Pixel
• Supabase: Our game backend, to store mobile app game state (farm, crops, progress, step-derived currency)
• Sentry: Our error-monitoring provider, to receive crash and diagnostic reports
• Patreon: Our membership platform. When you choose to link your Patreon account, we receive your Patreon user ID, account email, and membership status from Patreon. We do not share your StepHarvest data with Patreon.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in each email
• Request access to your personal data
• Request deletion of your personal data
• Opt out of analytics tracking

Deleting Your Account and Data

You can permanently delete your account and all associated game data at any time from within the app: open Settings, then Account, then Delete account. This removes your account and all of your game data (farm, progress, inventory, achievements, and step-derived currency) from our systems. The deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. If you need help, you can also request deletion by emailing contact@stepharvest.com.

Children's Privacy

StepHarvest is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
