Week Fourteen in the Valley

You can open your home to neighbors now, letting them walk through your farmhouse, coop, barn and cellar to see what you've made of it. A big round of performance work makes a lot of everyday actions close to instant, and villager races can start the same day.

What You Brought Home

Neighbors can step inside your home now. If you allow farm visits, they can walk through your farmhouse, coop, barn and cellar and see how you've set them up. A lot of everyday actions got much faster, some going from several seconds to almost instant. Villager races can start the same day rather than the next, and rewards from fishing, foraging and mining show up in a tidier view.

Neighbors can tour your home

If you have farm visits turned on, neighbors can step inside your buildings now as well as walk around your farm. They'll see how you've decorated your farmhouse, coop, barn and cellar, along with the keepsakes and trophies you've put on display. This one has been on the list since the interiors update.

Think of it as a house tour. Visitors can look around, but they can't take, move or use anything, and nothing in your home changes because they stopped by. The setting lives in Settings, under Farm and Privacy.

Keeping up with your neighbors got easier as well. Gifting someone now waves at them too, if you haven't already that day, which saves a tap per neighbor and works for bulk gifts. You can send items from your bag straight from the Neighbors list, and neighbor gifts can contain wood now.

A much faster game

A lot of everyday actions are much quicker now. Things that used to keep you waiting several seconds happen almost instantly: filling the reservoirs on your sprinklers and other farm technology, opening gifts and boxes, loading the silo, tending animals, claiming quests, board rewards and mail, unlocking fields, and plenty more.

Opening all your mail and clearing notices is much faster too, even with a full mailbox.

Race today, not just tomorrow

You can start a villager race for today now, as long as it's before 3pm your time. Any steps you've already walked that day count toward it, so a morning walk can go toward a race you start at lunch.

Rewards look tidier

Rewards from fishing, foraging and mining show up in a more compact view.

Tap any item to see its description, price and uses. If you liked the old list better, it's in Settings, under Display and Detail.

Tapping a reward to see what it is, what it's worth and what it's for

  • In foraging, what you find flies from the spot it was hidden in over to your character.
  • In mining, your haul tumbles out of the rock as it breaks.
  • Festival items glow in your reward box, so they stand out at a glance.

Pets

  • Every expedition destination has a Possible finds list now, showing what your pet can bring home, rare find included.
  • Destination cards show a picture of each place, with a winter version when it snows.

More small touches

  • The Bonus Field can have its own sprinkler now.
  • The Keg Tender looks after more kegs at every level, enough to cover a fully packed cellar.
  • Gift bounties on the guild board ask for an amount your guild can actually reach, so smaller guilds get a goal they can finish.
  • Selling to the store from the Market asks you to confirm first, the same way your bag already does.
  • The Settings screen has been reorganized to make it clearer and easier to find your way around.
  • Watching other players forage is much smoother, with them walking between spots and bending down for each find.
  • Reduce motion now hides the falling leaves and snow as well.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed the pier map occasionally not loading while fishing.

Fourteen weeks in

That's week fourteen. Thanks to everyone who came out for the Spirit's Eve Foray at the weekend, and for the reports and ideas, as always. On to week fifteen.
